This catalogue is based on the work of Mickel and Smith (2004). The scheme of Smith et al., (2006), is followed for the taxonomic arrangement of the classes; Psilotopsida, Equisetopsida, Marattiopsida and Polypodiopsida, while that of Moran and Riba (1995) is followed for the class Lycopodiopsida.

This database contains names accepted as official nomenclature, synonyms and distribution information, as well the categories of NOM-059-SEMARNAT-2001 for some groups. The nomenclatural information includes 31 families, 168 genera, 1,064 species and 78 infraspecific categories.
