The White mangrove is usually associated with other mangrove species forming forests (mangroves) on the coastline. These species together form the sustenance of many species of fish, molluscs and invertebrates of commercial importance as well as migratory birds.
Mangrove forests are declining significantly worldwide due to their replacement by other economic activities and the expansion of human settlement.
