Threatened Least concern (LC) Species only Appendix II

The biggest threats to the golden eagle are electrocution, poisoning, illegal hunting, habitat loss, increased forestry activities, human disturbance of their nesting grounds, illegal trafficking (for pets or falconry), and pesticide poisoning.

The Golden Eagle has officially been the national emblem since 1968, but originates from the Aztec legend of the founding of Tenochtitlan.
