The functions of CONABIO as a promoter of this process are:

• To establish contact with local institutions related to conservation and biodiversity management.
  
  
• Support management processes with local stakeholders and provide institutional support.
  
  
• Facilitate procurement of technical and scientific information to support the development of the SS.
  
  
• Foster communication between states, federal institutions and international forums.
  
  
• Work with NGOs and institutions with a national presence to support local requests and form a support network for achieving the SBS.
  
  
• Promote collections and fund raising for the support and follow-up of workshops, publication of State Studies and State Strategies.
  
  
• Communicate at national level regarding the progress in each state.
