The States of Campeche, Chiapas, Oaxaca, Quintana Roo and Yucatan of the South-Southeastern Region commit to producing their corresponding studies and strategies, through the signing of the “Declaration of Merida”.
2007
The Interinstitutional Convention was signed on World Environment Day, initiating work on the EE. ECOSUR are placed in charge.

STATE STUDY. Informative workshops were held and open calls made for participation within the State Study. Furthermore, regional workshops were held with the peninsular States in order to share experiences.
2008
The third Meeting of Environmental Authorities was held regarding EEB of the South-Southeastern Region of Mexico, with the regional States, PNUD, CONANP, PEMEX and the MMBC (Newsletter No. 9).
2009
100% of the contributions to the first version completed.
STRATEGY. At the end of 2009, the State Government recognizes the need to begin the State Strategy for Biodiversity. In 2010, the details to begin the State Strategy were refined.
Implementation activities in the strategy framework have not begun.
